What's it all about?

The world's largest terrestrial network, launched in 1959, Doordarshan is the equivalent of the BBC in India, with a viewing audience of over 1.4 billion worldwide.

Initially Doordarshan are on the SKY satellite platform EPG 833 and 832, with two channels DD-India and DD-News, with plans to offer an online television platform by close of 2007.

Audience Type

Doordarshan has content that will appeal to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation British Asians, although the primary language will be Hindi/Urdu, approximately 20% of all programmes will be in English. Doordarshan's core audience is across the traditional media segmentation and highlights the rich and varied culture.
